Ancient Charm

The Faculty of Archaeology and the Technical University Delft work together in work package 1, cultural heritage foundations of neutron-based imaging, of the European project Ancient Charm.

This led to the selection of the “Buggenum” prehistoric sword (dated 1300 - 1100 BC) and the ceremonial sword from Jutphaas (14th or 13th century BC), for NRCA experiments at GELINA ( Belgium) with a narrowed-down neutron beam in order to determine the composition of the objects. Both objects are part of the collection of the National Museum for Antiquity in Leiden.
