I.E.E. (Itandehui) Jansen MA
Itandehui Jansen is a filmmaker and scholar. She studied an MFA in Directing Film at the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam. Her films have screened at many different international film festivals, such as the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival, the Cannes Short Film Corner and the Morelia International Film Festival. Her short film The Last Council received several international prizes and was nominated to the Mexican Film Critics Award Diosa de Plata .
Her PhD research focused on both practice and theory of Accented Cinema and was supported through a grant by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. She is particularly interested in strategies of cinematic self-representation by marginalised groups. Previously she lectured at different universities, among other in the department of Media Studies of Utrecht University and the department of Literature at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Taught courses include Documentary Theory, Digital Filmmaking, World Cinema, Film Analysis and Intercultural Communication.
At the moment she is participating in the ERC research project “Time in Intercultural Context”. For this projectt she is researching alternative representations of contemporary Indigenous identities.
